Life At BA (May 2013 Issue)

Bright Antenna Records is a busy place. Life really couldn’t get more exciting for us right now.

After our SxSW adventure (which you can read all about here), Beware of Darkness immediately hopped on a flight to the UK; Flagship started prepping for their upcoming Bottle Rock show; and Middle Class Rut — well, Zack and Sean headed home for a little R&R before they head off on what will no doubt be a year or so of touring.

The Wombats did not make it to SxSW this year, but they played Coachella, and to a packed house at The Fillmore here in SF in between. I think my favorite part was when a guy who looked about twelve years old snuck up on stage and leapt into the crowd. Knees first. Needless to say, no one caught him.

And Flagship might be about to hit the stage at Bottle Rock, but did you know they just finished mixing their debut LP? That’s right! The band heads into mastering just before Bottle Rock, and we’re planning on an autumn release. Are you excited? I know we are. By the way, if you find yourself around Mill Valley on May 12th, Flagship is playing a free show at the historic Sweetwater Music Hall. They love moms, so you should totally bring yours for Mother’s Day.

Speaking of debut LPs, Orthodox by Beware of Darkness is now available!

“Howl” is already all over the radio, and every time it comes on we have a dance party here in the office. The album is up for sale on iTunes, so go check it out.

Middle Class Rut’s new album, Pick Up Your Head, will be released in June,

but in the meantime, check out the debut of their new music video “Aunt Betty” exclusively on Loudwire! Do you live near Sacramento? Middle Class Rut is playing a free show in Cesar Chavez Park on May 10th. That’s BA’s backyard, so at least a few of us will be there. Come say hi!

Is that enough excitement for you? No? How awkward. Check out the bands’ Facebook pages for more up-to-the-minute news and fun thoughts from the bands.

xoxo,
