Ciao!
My name is Caitlin, a.k.a. Esmarelda, this is my second month of interning at Bright Antenna. When one first enters BA, you see a celebrity look-alike poster of all the employees. I am paired with Julianne Moore, hmmm…Anyway, I am getting the behind-the-scenes look into all the goofiness, fun and hard work that occurs at a blooming indie rock label.
My daily tasks include monitoring myspace, blogs, and, of course, facebook. As an advertising major, I have also been fortunate enough to participate with various methods of branding that go into the label and the bands. In addition, I sit in on the hilarious meetings where the business always gets done and they talk in music biz lingo that I’m just now beginning to decipher.
Music! Music is of course the most electrifying part of the gig. I get exposure to the cool, up and coming bands. I listen to potential clients and remixes of current clients down the recording studio with all its booming bass. I also got on the comp list to check out The Wombats concert in SF. That was a blast.
Still, one thing that has made this internship so distinct are the celebrity look-alike peeps I get to hang with including look-alikes for Thom Yorke, Priscella Presley, Ewan McGregor and John Schneider, you know, Bo Duke in the original Dukes of Hazard. With two weeks left, I know I will have more stories to tell so check back.
